Mad Men: The Fashion File

So if you know me, you know that I am absolutely obsessed with Mad Men. The main reason I am so obsessed is because I drool over each and every dress, suit, skirt, blouse, high heal, tie, everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The stylist for Mad Men is a genius. These outfits are not just thrown together, they are all delicately and carefully planned out for each characters scene and mood!

Well this genius stylist/Designer put out a book!

I am on Chapter 2, I can't put it down.

The first chapter talks about being confident in your own body shape, skin color, hair and eye color, all of that silly stuff us girls obsess over.

She also gave example from through out time the women who pronounced their features and were the it girls of their times!
I thought it was cool, to look these girls up and research teir style and to see how daring and sexy they were for their day! they are all beautiful!!!!!!!

Project Restyle

I don't think its any secret that my favorite blog on the internet is A Beautiful Mess, the blog of Elsie Flannigan. She was my inspiration to start my blog and I'm sure she is inspiration to most crafty hipster girlies out there! She is amazing! Passionate and determined! Anyways she is doing a project this year with her friend Rachel and I am doing it too!

All the pretty colors!

My boyfriend got me these really cool transparent colored things to go over my flash and lenses on my camera. They are really cool and yes essentially I could do all of these neat effects in good ole photoshop but this is way more fun!

After- tables and chairs

This is a pic of the chairs after they are all done. We ended up using a bouncing ball to replace the decorative balls at the top. When we were drilling the wooden balls they kept splitting.

We also added rubber bottoms to all of the legs so that they wouldn't scratch the floor. The table bottom is the same baby blue as the chairs. I will try to get a pic of them all together, before I give it to the family our youth group is sponsoring for christmas.

I am so excited about this project , it was so much fun. I used a staple gun for the first time!!!!!!!

Thanks to the Rad Life boys for the use of tools and skill.

Day 2

On the tops of the chairs on each post there are these decrative balls, and when we purchased the chairs 2 were missing. i had no idea how to go about replacing these things. So I called up my handy friend Luke Lee and he had the idea to just buy wooden balls about the same size and drill hole in the bottom to fit over the chairs! Genius!!! So I found the balls today at Hobby Lobby and the dudes from Rad Life are going to help me drill them.

Last night I covered these 2 seats, not too bad for a first timer! I will say though that my hands and wrists hurt so bad today from spray painting and from ripping the old fabric off of the old wood on the seats and trying to get the staples out of the bottom of the seat!

Kepp checking back, ill keep you up dated!!!!!!!

Day 1 on redoing the table and chairs.

Here are the chairs, being painted and primed! I love the soft blue color! Look at Callie poking her head in!!!! haha

This is the seat that I am covering, gross, huh?

This is the fabric I chose for the seats. I know I know, a little patriotic, but thats not what I was going for, I am going for kind of a carnivale mod look, lets cross our fingers and hope this works!

A walk.....

Me and Nathan decided to go on a walk the other day and stumbled upon a garage sale! We found this awesome table and chair set for 7 dollars!!!!! We were so excited, we went home got my car and went and paid for and picked it up! As you can see it needs A LOT of TLC! but we are willing and able! I started today by taking the seat cushions off and the table top off and started sanding, hopefully I will finnish that tomorrow, then on to re painting!

I am the crazy cat lady!

I love cats! They are such mysterious creatures! I love how they prance around like they own the world one minute, then the next they are bringing you dead birds as a payment for what you do for them! They are silly and adorable and I LOVE THEM!!!!
